- Am I allowed to miss a part of class due to a court appointment?
Workers should schedule training when they will not be required to be in court, and supervisors are strongly discouraged from calling workers out of training. But if you must miss part of a day of training, the trainer will arrange a homework assignment for you to complete. If you miss an entire day of training, you will be required to make up that day, before you can continue your Core training series. If you miss the first day of any training, you will not be allowed to attend the rest of the training and you will need to contact Centralized Registration at mscd-cocwtraining@mscd.edu or 303.556.5205 or 1.888.569.1830 to reschedule.
- How do I get a certificate of completion for a training?
A certificate is provided to trainees upon completion at each training. If you need a replacement certificate, please contact the Butler Institute for Families at kathy.schmitz@du.edu or 303.871.4435.
- How is lodging arranged for me?
The Butler Institute for Families will arrange your lodging. When you register online for a CDHS sponsored training, there is an area that asks if you qualify for lodging. If you qualify for lodging and fail to complete this portion online, you will not be given any lodging by default. We will gladly honor your request to share your room with a specific trainee, but please give us ample time to process your request. Special requests are most easily honored by completely filling out the lodging section when registering online. Please contact the Butler Institute for Families if you require any special lodging arrangements at caren.nixon@du.edu or call 303.871.4435.
- How do I sign up for a single room or a roommate?
Please contact the Butler Institute for Families (before you get to the hotel) to request special lodging requirements for your training. There will be no charge to you if you share your lodging room with another trainee. You will be charged a half-room rate if you request a single room. This rate varies depending on the hotel, but it usually will not exceed $50 per night. Call 303.871.4435 or email caren.nixon@du.edu to arrange your single room and to find out what the exact room charge per night will be.

- How will I know if my training is delayed or canceled due to inclement weather?
The Butler Institute for Families at the University of Denver rarely cancels a day of training due to inclement/severe weather. If you must be reassured before heading out on the road to attend your training, call 303.871.4435 or 303.871.3796. You may not reach an actual person on the other end of the phone, but if the training is canceled or delayed, the details will be on the voice mail message. If the voice mail you are hearing does not address the weather, then consider the training on.
If you are attending any training at the University Center at Chaparral, then you need to call (303) 797-5700, the select option 9, to find out if this location is open for training. If this location is closed, then any training being held at the University Center at Chaparral has been cancelled.
If the training is still being held, and you cannot make it due to the weather, then you will need to schedule a make-up day. To do so, please call us at 303.871.4435 or email cnixon2@du.edu.
