August 4, 2008 (Monday)
Enjoy a wonderful Italian dinner, relax to the sounds of a jazz trio playing in the background, and network with conference speakers and participants, as well as Butler Institute staff and friends. This event will be an opportunity to celebrate the sunset of the recruitment and retention grantees and connect with colleagues across the country. At the heart of the gracious University of Denver campus, the Conference and Event Center at the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management combines the warm intimacy of Tuscan architecture and handsomely appointed spaces with the convenience of the latest technology. Dinner will be served in the airy Tuscan ballroom and adjoining wine cellar. More Information:

This overview is just a brief look at the structure of this conference. Visit the Agenda page for a more detailed summary of the conference events and sessions.

Concurrent Workshops featured presentations from national experts on the issues of recruitment, selection, training and retention that informed and engaged participants on evidenced-based interventions to address these issues. Interactive workshops provided concrete tools and the latest knowledge that participants can use back at their own agency.

Attendees were encouraged to participate in the conference with a team from their agency. The institute was more than just an opportunity to learn, it was a chance for participants, with their team, to engage in action planning to take the knowledge and skills learned at the event, back to their own offices. Trained facilitators guided participants in meaningful action planning to help them address their own recruitment, selection, and retention issues and devise plans to address them. Not all attendees were there with teams, so these participants had the opportunity to work with colleagues from other agencies or attend special sessions. Together, we Scaled the Summit.
