Class Description:

This half-day day Distance Learning Training will focus on youth in care, age thirteen and above, paying particular attention to the skills they need to survive and compete as young adult “graduates of the system”. Topics discussed will include: prioritizing permanency for youth, helping youth make permanent connections, assessing the ability of children to meet post-placement challenges and providing youth with the skills necessary to make good decisions.

 

Target Audience:

Foster parents, kinship care providers, adoptive parents, and interested child welfare professionals.

 

Competencies:
  • Learn to assess the ability of youth to meet post-placement challenges.
  • Learn skills to help youth make better decisions.
  • Learn how to help youth make permanent connections.
