Class Description:

This training is sponsored by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment/Women’s Health Section. The training will provide information regarding adolescent development to assist in successfully working with teens.

 

Target Audience:

Prenatal Plus Care Coordinators, Family Planning providers, Mental Health providers, registered dietitians, and program coordinators

 

Competencies:
  • Address and recognize the challenges faced by Family Planning and Prenatal Plus providers when working with the teenage population.
  • Know the stages, processes, and milestones for expected physical, cognitive, and psychosocial adolescent development.
  • Understand adolescent brain development.
  • Strategize on how to apply knowledge of adolescent development to successfully work with teens.
  • Identify effective strategies in building relationships with teen clients.
